Part 2 - Stories of Sovereignty from England

Here are a few more stories that show God’s sovereignty, though some would call it mere coincidence.

A few years ago there used to be an advert for a phone company: "the future's bright, the future's orange." A guy who was seeking confirmation that God was real said, "If you are real, cause someone to say that to me if I go to a service." In the meantime, The Lord pressed it on the heart of a believer to go up to this man and say, "the future's bright, the future's orange." At first he was unwilling because it seemed such a daft thing to do, but he obeyed, and the guy came to know the Lord.

In the same vein, a believer came into a nice windfall and felt the Lord was telling him to give it to the millionaire who was at the same conference. After some (understandable) argument, he obeyed, and found that the 'millionaire' was actually in financial melt-down and needed financial help.

The next story concerns someone who took a suit to a Chinese laundry. Unfortunately they left their wallet in the jacket, and the laundry staff put it somewhere for safe-keeping. When the client returned to the laundry, no one knew the safe place. He started to pray that the wallet might be found, and prayed in tongues. Afterward one of the staff said, "How long have you spoken Chinese?" to which he replied, "I don't know Chinese." Just afterward a member of the staff came back with the wallet. The message in tongues had revealed to the member of the staff where the wallet was!

There was a pastor or missionary who had been in some African country. He was back home feeling very weary and dispirited. He went to a service where a message in tongues was given out by a local farmer or labourer. The message was in the dialect of the African tribe where the missionary had worked. He asked the man when and where he learned that language and the man had never been out of the village! (Must have been a long time ago)

A few weeks ago at church one of our congregation gave a word of knowledge saying there was someone who had a problem with their shoulder. The former lady often gives a word of knowledge, usually something medical. I found myself thinking, "Well she could be just randomly saying this," since, in a gathering, there will be someone with a headache or in pain. Where is the proof? Very soon after, those being prayed for gathered in the area in front of where I was sitting in the church. Guess what? Right in front of me was a lady who was being prayed for the said shoulder problem! They were gently lifting her arm as they prayed. I know God has a sense of humour and wanted to increase my faith.

I was meeting up with some ladies recently to have coffee; two of them were delayed outside talking. When they came in, I must have said some encouraging word to them, and they said it was exactly what they needed to hear! I still don't know what they were talking about, but the words that the Lord gave me to say was just what they needed.
